It has seriously affected the western economy and the effects can clearly be visible in other parts of the world. Though crisis was continuing for the last one and half year but the result has surfaced now. The business guru were also not sure that it would affect the world economy in such a cruel manner.
But the Indian economy does not have to worried much about this crisis. In a recent interview the Finmin has assured the marketers that the Indian market is stable and it would not be affected by the downfall of the major financial houses.

'e-Passports' become a reality soon

I remember the time when I applied my passport back in 2000. There was a long application process, waiting process, and the verification process. This would take anywhere between 3 to 5 months. Did I mention there was a lot of red tape involved in that? I really did not see what the fuss was all about for printing a 20 odd page book with a blue cover.

Now, that is all going to change forever. Government is introducing e-Passport facility (also known as biometric passports) in which would be safer against any malpractice (counterfeit passports) and also facilitates smoother movement across borders (of course which are equipped with e-passport reading facilities). The process has already started and few prominent people already have it.

President and Vice-president and the prime minister are among the few people who already have it. I guess Dr. Manmohan Singh will be using this for his coming trip to USA to meet with President Bush to complete the nuclear deal. Ministers and other diplomats (beaurocrats) will soon get it.

The growing economy and foreign interest in the country has led to a surge in the number of passports issued from 22 lakh in 2000 to 50 lakh in 2007. This is expected to grow to 58 lakh in 2008 and over 80 lakh by 2010.

This roll out is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. Government is also introducing Passport Seva Project which will expedite the issuance of passports. The passport will be issued in 3 days. That would be phenomenal, is it not? There is also a service called Tatkal in which the passport is issued within a day. (source)

All this will be possible if only the non-value added tasks (for the government) are outsourced. Government is planning to outsource few tasks (which usually take a longer time) to 3rd party vendors selected through a bidding process. Tasks like initial scrutiny of applications, fee acceptance, document scanning and taking photos will all be outsourced.

Height of Political Incompetence

The official-dom seems to have become immune to Delhi serial Blasts blasts. How else could one interpret the comment of the Home Secretary of India, when he said, "we are learning with every blast". And less said the better about our Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who is busier changing his attire through the day—he changed three suits between 6.30 p.m and 11 p.m on the night of the blasts, even as he apologized to the nation. In fact he has himself become an apology for a Home Minister.

Let me tell you - The common Indian is n0t intimated by any kind of terror attack. We are used to every difficulty in life, every challenge, and every terse situation. But why should people like Shivraj Patil to be there, where he is right now..?? Who will tell that Crap head; just walk the streets of any Indian city unarmed, no security with him; he might get some sense in his brainless skull. He is the worst Home minister India had.

No wonder with such leadership both in the ruling parties and the opposition, for whom every recurring bomb blast is time for playing their own brand of politics, the sense of cynicism among the people is overwhelming. This the height of Indian Political Incompetence.

Next is What; Mumbai or Indore

After the capital serial blasts; our intelligence agencies were seeking to figure out which could the next possible target of the terrorists and their estimate is that Mumbai, India's financial capital, could be in the terror map.

"We don't want to spread any alarm, but we need to make every calculation to try and be a step ahead of the terrorists," said a source familiar with the investigations, adding, "Mumbai could be the next target." This estimate is derived from several factors, the chief among them being the ease with which Abdus Subhan, the techie-bomber from Mumbai, who is suspected by security agencies to be among the top plotters of attacks in Delhi, Ahmedabad and Jaipur, can find sanctuaries in the city.

The email sent by Indian Mujahideen, which sources say virtually carries the signature of Abdus Subhan, is from Mumbai and this has again highlighted his success in securing safe houses in the city despite the massive manhunt for him. This was third time when Subhan, who has been evading police since his name figured in the Mumbai train attacks, defied police surveillance to send a terror mail by abusing an unsecured Wi-Fi connection. If his audacious moves are a serious concern by themself, what's adding to the investigators' worry is the strong grudges he appears to nurse against Mumbai and certain city personalities.

While Subhan is driven by a strong animus against the city, intelligence agencies also suspect that anti-India elements belonging to Lashkar may like to hit the financial capital as part of the campaign against India. The links between IM and Lashkar are deep and have found reflection in the praise of two "legendary" Lakskar jehadis, Sayeed Ahmad and Shah Ismail in the IM email.

Subhan's anger against Bal Thackeray came off strongly in the email. "Bal Thackarey is free, Ijaz Pathan is dead, Tiger Memon is still running away, and Shiv Sena continues to spread its terror on the street of Mumbai and Maharashtra," he wrote in the email sent on May 13. Intel sources point out that in that mail Subhan vents his anger against CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, his deputy R R Patil for alleged atrocities on Muslims and threatens a repeat of the serial blasts on suburban trains.

Auto driver an eye witnese

Another person saw one of the Delhi bombers apart from the 11-year-old balloon seller — autorickshaw driver Moolchand, 38, who brought the Gaffar Market bomber from Paharganj on Saturday evening in his auto.

He narrowly escaped death when his auto blew up just as he had stepped out of his vehicle while waiting for the bomber to return, ostensibly after carrying out a "little errand", en route to Patel Nagar.

"Bhaisaheb, Patel Nagar chaloge? Mere ko Gaffar Market main dus minute ka kaam hai. Main tumhe halting charges bhi doonga." (Will you go to Patel Nagar? I have to stop at Gaffar Market for 10 minutes. I will pay you halting charges)." These were the first words of the six-foot passenger whom Moolchand took from Imperial Hotel at Paharganj around 5.30pm.

Forty minutes later, the autoricksaw (DL1RG/4381) went up in the air, killing around 19 people and injuring over 50. Moolchand, who suffered injuries, was taken to Jessa Ram Hospital. He is reported to be out of danger.

He has told the police his killer-passenger was carrying a black bag. "He kept the bag inside the auto, and when I stopped outside Gaffar Market, he said he would return in 10 minutes and went up the stairs in the opposite lane. He was wearing dark clothes and didn't seem to have shaved for three-four days. He must have been around 26-27 years old and was wearing a black cap," Moolchand told the cops.
